Visitor Guidelines

The Liberian Memorial is a quiet place for remembrance and quiet reflection.  To all guests, please respect these hallowed grounds as sacred born through tragedies and triumphs.Health and safety guidelines must be followed at all times.  The Memorial seeks to keep all visitors and staff safe.  And therefore, reserves the right to refuse or revoke the admission of any guest whose conduct violates these guidelines.  All visitors age 12 and older 

Health and Safety

The Liberian Memorial is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for all visitors and staff, following all public safety precautions. Requirements:  One, all visitors age 12 and older are to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enter. Two, masks are required for all visitors over the age of two. Masks are not required outdoors on the Memorial grounds for those who are fully vaccinated with valid immunization cards.

Prohibited Items

The Memorial prohibits the following: alcohol; animals (except service animals); demonstrations of any kind; glass bottles; littering; paint; outside food and drinks; recreational wheeled vehicles; smoking; soliciting or leafleting; third-party commercial activities; and weapons and explosives. No baggage larger than 19 inches by 17 inches by 8 inches deep will be permitted onto the Memorial.

Security Screening

All visitors to the Liberian Memorial are subject to security screening. Memorial Visitors will pass through magnetometers and or alternative screening techniques, including hand-wanding, are also available. Please limit the amount of items that you bring with you.  Extra security may be deployed when and where necessary to ensure visitors’ safety and enable the Memorial to remain a place of quiet remembrance.

Tribute Items

As we gather together to pay tribute to the victims and recognize the sacrifices of many helpers, we encourage the displaying of commemorative items. These gestures helped to reinforce a spirit of solidarity, compassion, and global connection.
Visitors may place items of tribute on the ground in front of the Memorial pools, on the bronze parapets surrounding the fountains, and on the stone monoliths of the Memorial Glade.
Tribute items must be no larger than 19 inches by 17 inches by 8 inches. Items exceeding these size limitations will not be permitted onto the Memorial. Perishable items will be collected daily and discarded. Nonperishable items will be collected, reviewed, and retained at the discretion of the Liberian Memorial curatorial staff.
Please do not throw or place anything in the Memorial fountains.

All levels enjoy free daily admission to the Memorial for four for one year and the ability to add guests to your visiting party as listed below:

For Member, Member Plus, and Member Premium:  Guests must be accompanied by a current Memorial member. 

Please allow 14 business days for processing and delivery of guests’ passes. These are included in the member package along with the permanent membership card.

All guided tours require advance registration subject to availability and are redeemable one time within a year of membership.
